its an engine immobilizer system. This system effectively inhibits theft by making ignition impossible without the key specific to the vehicle. Each key carries an embedded wireless tag that provides a unique code to the engine control unit. If the special electronic key is not used, the engine will not start. This prevents the engine from being started with any kind of false key.
