How do you remove the ignition switch from a 1995 pontiac grand prix?
justwondering
Recently bought a 1995 pontiac grand prix but the key is missing. So I would rather replace the ignition switch all together. How do I remove the old one when I don’t have a key?

remove the steering wheel and turn signal assembly.there will be a screw hold the ignition swith in place. remove it and the switch slides out.
i know i made it sound easy but you are going to need some special tools. take it to a dealer.

I think you need to put this on the Pontiac (GM) site not Dodge?

disconnect the negative battery cable first to keep from setting off your air bag. Then you must remove the steering wheel. then you need a special tool to depress the steering wheel lock retainer. You can then remove the screws that hold your column together. you may want to undo the underdash and unplug the wiring going down through the steering column to make it easier to pull the blinker switch assembly out of the way. Then when you get down to that you will see a cut out where the key tumbler slides into the cloumn.. on some models there is a cut out but it’s filled…just knock a small hole in it if it’s not open. on other models there is simply a small screw that you remove and then it allows the tumbler assembly to come out. then put it back together in the reverse order.
