Started the truck this morning, ran for two minutes then died. Has power, turns over and is not giving me any computer codes. No dead fuses either.
A red wire ontop the fuel filter had come undone so I plugged back in. Still won’t run.
A few people suggested the fuel pump, how do I check to see if this is bad?

Reprime your fuel filter. All you have to do is pump the rubber button on top of the filter housing until you feel it getting stiff.

It is very doubtful that your fuel pump went out. Try taking out your fuel filter see if it is dirty. Turn your key on while you have the filter pulled see if you get fuel. I do believe not sure there is a booster pump in the tank. The injector pump is on the engine though.

are you in a climate, ware the cold we have been getting, has not turned your fuel into jello? If you wish, you can get a fuel pressure guage, and see what fuel pressure you have.
While your at it, may be good to change out all the fuel filters with new ones

try changing your fuel filter dude. when was the last time you changed it?
you gonna need to fill the new filter with fresh diesel if air gets in the line it wont crank so be ready with the new one RIGHT WHEN you take off the old one put the new one in QUICKLY

Although it isn’t the correct way to test a fuel pump, one thing that is often used to start a vehicle when the fuel pump has gone out is to tap on the gas tank with a rubber mallet while trying to start it. Usually you can get it to start one more time if it is infact the fuel pump. Then take it to a shop and have them check it out if you don’t have the tools to test it yourself.
Again, not really used to test the pump obviously, but at least it should start one more time if the pump went out.

the fuel injection pump on the engine is a rugged unit i doubt it is bad im not sure but there could be a fuel pump in the tank like gas trucks check fuses and relays for that make sure fuel filters are clean or new very important for all diesels and use fuel conditioner in tank every so often.

Okay I’ve already answer you later question on this same vehicle with the same problem but I wanted to make a comment to all the others that have put their 2 cents in.
A Duramax does not have a fuel pump in the tank. The system works by siphoning fuel up to the transfer/high pressure pump located on the top front of the engine.
I wish that people who don’t have any clue about these vehicle would refrain from posting guesses for answers!
